Only a diabetic knows the importance of blood glucose, and controlling it, in relation to the condition. Typically, controlling diabetes prevents complications that affect the eyes, heart, kidneys, nerves, feet, blood vessels to name but a few. When you were diagnosed with diabetes, (of course after much testing and re-testing), you were advised to seek the services of a dietitian who will program your diet to keep the blood sugar levels in check. It therefore goes without saying that diabetics should monitor their sugar levels, which will entail blood sugar monitoring checks.
